Ancestors of the Travis family are
known to have been extensive land owners in Virginia during the pre Civil War
years. The end of the war found them
with worthless Confederate money and no slaves to ten their plantations.
Two sons of this family, John Stewart
Travis and Joseph Hudson Travis, established homes in the Keller area.
John Stewart Travis was born in Michigan on August 23,
1882. He was married on January 8, 1905
to Lillie Evoline Blevins, born in Tarrant
County, Texas, on
December 19, 1882, the second child of Gains Taylor Blevins and his wife, Mary
Caroline Matilda Bird Blevins.
John and Evie Travis spent their
active years as farmers in the Keller area.
John died September 9, 1942 and Evie died November 21, 1966. Both are buried in Bourland Cemetery. They were the parents of eight children.

Mary Solena Travis, born February 20, 1906, was married
to Claude David Ribble, born in Forney,
Texas on September 5, 1906. Their daughter is Kathryn Sue, born January
11, 1916.

Ella Harriet Travis, born March 5, 1907, married on
August 1, 1925 to Travis Wallace, born in Midlothian,
Texas on September 20, 1907. Their children are Monetta and Billy Claud.

Rhoda Evoline Travis, born May 6, 1910, married October
7, 1929 to Paul Green Hanes, born Melvin,
Texas. Their children are, Nova Avis, Paul Byron,
Melba Corrine and Rena Marnice.
4)
Henry Gilbert Travis, born March 6, 1912, died January
18, 1973 and was buried in Bourland
Cemetery. He was married on June 27, 1931 to Susie
Viola McNair, born July 19, 1916 in San
Saba, Texas. Their children are Margie Louise, twins,
Billy John and Betty Evelyn and Jack Hodge, who died in infancy and was buried
in Bourland Cemetery.

Della Travis, born October 3, 19--, was married to
Grady McEuin. Their children are Grady
Jr. and Linda Kay.

Dovie Travis married Warren Baucon. Their children are Pattie and Kathy.
8)
G.T. Travis, born March 4, 1917 and died June 19, 1918,
was buried in Bourland
Cemetery.
